Sweet strawberries, ripe banana, and juicy blackberries blend up into the most refreshing smoothie! Just 5 ingredients, one blender, and less than 5 minutes stand between you and this delicious breakfast.

When I need breakfast in a hurry, a smoothie is always my first move — and this strawberry banana blackberry smoothie is one of my favorites! The combination of sweet strawberries, ripe banana, and juicy blackberries blends up into something that tastes like a treat but takes less than 5 minutes to make. Creamy, fruity, and so refreshing — it hits every time.

You only need 5 ingredients and a blender, which makes this just about the easiest breakfast (or snack!) out there. I love how vibrant the color comes out too — it’s almost too pretty to drink. Almost!

If you’re a smoothie person like me, you have to try my Mango Strawberry Banana smoothie or my Banana Peach smoothie next — both so good. And don’t sleep on my Strawberry Smoothie Bowl either!

Recipe Ingredients

ingredients needed to make a strawberry blackberry banana smoothie

Here are some notes on a few ingredients- please see the full ingredient list in the recipe card below!

  • blackberries- Frozen blackberries can be hard to find so you can use fresh and freeze them ahead of time or just use them fresh.
  • strawberries- I use frozen strawberries but you can use fresh.
  • banana- I keep a bag of frozen bananas in my freezer at all times for smoothies! Anytime my banannas start to get over-ripe, I just throw them in the freezer! Bananas are typically a base in all my smoothies. My favorite smoothie with a banana base is this Salted Chocolate Peanut Butter smoothie!
  • milk- I use almond because that’s what I typically drink, any milk will work! You could also use water or juice.
  • yogurt- I used a vanilla greek yogurt, but any yogurt that you enjoy woulld be great in this smoothie. A strawberry, blackberry, or mixed berry flavored yogurt would taste great!

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Put the banana, strawberries, blackberries, and yogurt into the blender. I usually start with less milk and add more if needed, so start by adding 1/4 cup. If you’re not using frozen fruits, throw in a handful of ice cubes.

Step 2: Blend until smooth. Add more milk for a thinner smoothie, or ice cubes for a thicker smoothie.

Can I add protein powder?

Yes! I love adding a scoop of protein powder to my smoothies. I recommend adding your favorite vanilla protein powder for a delicious flavor boost. If needed, add more liquid to the smoothie to accomodate for the powder.

Tips and Tricks

  • Troubleshooting your smoothie- if your smoothie is too thick, add in a little more milk, water, or juice. If your smoothie is too thin, add in more frozen fruit or toss in a few ice cubes to thicken it up.
  • Using a good blender will give you the creamiest smoothies, but it doesn’t need to be super expensive/fancy! This is my go-to blender, I’ve had it for years now.
  • Frozen bananas are (in my opinion) the best for smoothies. I sometimes buy an extra bundle at the store, bring them home and peel them to go right into the freezer. That way I always have a stash on hand for a quick smoothie or bowl!
  • If your fruit wasn’t frozen to begin with, just add some ice cubes to your smoothie.
  • Make this into a smoothie bowl by using less milk (for a thicker consistency) and adding toppings like granola, chia seeds, sliced banana, strawberries, blackberries, shredded coconut, and drizzled peanut butter/almond butter. You could anything else you enjoy as well!

Storing & Freezing

Smoothies are best fresh right after blending them, but you can store them in an airtight jar in the fridge for 1-2 days. I would stir it up before drinking.

You can also freeze your strawberry blackberry banana smoothie. Place it in a freezer-safe jar like a mason jar, and freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost it overnight by placing the smoothie in the fridge the night before you want to drink it.
