Hey, I'm Kelly, and welcome to bake & bacon. Glad you're here!
I was lucky to be able to grow up with parents who spent a decent chunk of time in the kitchen- my dad is the cook of the family, and my mom is the baker. I think my love for food and cooking/baking came from watching my parents do it growing up.
The TV in our house was typically set to The Food Network, where we binged episodes of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, the Rachel Ray Show, Ace of Cakes, and Chopped. My siblings and I used to make my mom record our "cooking show" on our kitchen island, where we would stand on chairs and pretend to be the next Emeril Lagasse or Alton Brown. Our fake TV show mostly consisted of us mixing flour and water and playing with paste (sounds weird now, but it was fun I promise).
Bake & bacon was born out of my love for two things- baking, and breakfast. I wanted to be able to share some of my favorite recipes with friends and family, as well as challenge myself to create new recipes and ideas. I figured why not put them on the internet and share them with the world!
My main goal is to bring you delicious, easy, and fun recipes that you can try at home by yourself or with others. I want to be proof that you don't need fancy expensive equipment, a big beautiful kitchen (hello, apartment kitchen over here), or tons of formal experience to be "good at baking". Baking should be a fun and relaxing way to spend some time in the kitchen and result in amazing food for you and your loved ones to enjoy together.
Bake & bacon is here to show you that you, yes you, can be a great baker!
