If you're trying to meal prep or just simplify your busy mornings, look no further than these Chocolate Banana Overnight Oats! They are creamy, chocolatey, and naturally sweetened with ripe banana, making this easy recipe a wholesome one as well! Made with 6 simple ingredients and prep time under 5 minutes, you can have a satisfying and indulgent breakfast ready for tomorrow morning in no time.

Name a better, and more iconic, combo than chocolate and banana- I'll wait... These two couldn't make a better pair for a hearty & delicious breakfast. These overnight oats are packed with flavorful and filling ingredients, making them a satisfying meal to start the day.
As a breakfast lover and recipe developer, I am always trying to come up with new recipes with my favorite flavors- like these banana bread baked oats, or these banana chia overnight oats. Oat recipes are so fun because you can really come up with some out-of-the-box flavor ideas, but still feel like you're getting a great breakfast in (I'm looking at you snicker overnight oats).
My favorite part about overnight oats? No cooking or baking required! Just mix the ingredients, let them chill in the fridge overnight, and wake up to a creamy, ready-to-eat breakfast. Whether you enjoy them straight from the fridge or warmed up in the microwave, they're the perfect way to start your day.
ingredients you will need

- old-fashioned oats- old-fashioned or rolled oats are what I always recommend for
- chia seeds
- cocoa powder- I recommend using an unsweetened dutch-processed cocoa powder if available to you.
- milk- any milk works for overnight oats, so use whatever you enjoy.
- banana
- maple syrup- this is optional, depending on how sweet your bananas are and how sweet you enjoy your oats.
- chocolate chips- I love the mini chocolate chips, but any will do. At the end of the day, chocolate is chocolate after all!
Perfect bananas for overnight oats
For this recipe, I usually like to use bananas that are ripe or over-ripe, since the banana acts as a sweetener for us! The more ripe the banana, the sweeter it is. They don't need to be banana bread level ripe, but it definitely makes them easier to mash up with a fork!
If you have unripe bananas but you simple CANNOT wait to make these, my favorite way to easily ripen bananas is by putting your bananas in a brown paper bag. Roll the bag up tightly, which traps in a gas the bananas release and causes them to ripen. I do this anywhere from 6-12 hours or overnight!
How to make

Any overnight oat recipe is probably the easiest recipe you're ever going to make (no lie). They are quick, straight-forward, and basically take no brain-power to make, which honestly these days I need.
- start by mixing together the oats with the other dry ingredients
- add in the mashed banana and wet ingredients, mixing well
- don't forget to add the chocolate chips
- let them sit in the fridge for a few hours (the longer they sit, the better the texture)
- Go to bed (or don't) and wake up the next morning with a delicious breakfast waiting for you!
So easy! I always add some sliced banana and chocolate chips to the top of my oats before I eat them the next morning.
Other Add-In Ingredients
Feeling a little wild and want to add more to this delicious chocolate + banana combo? Here are a few things I would add if I were you-
- chopped nuts or granola for a crunch
- cacao nibs (if you love those more)
- peanut butter, or really any nut butter you enjoy
- cinnamon, nutmeg, or a dash of espresso powder (makes the chocolate flavor more intense)
- strawberries or chopped dates for more sweetness!

Storage and Meal Prepping
Overnight oats are a great meal prep option since they stay good in the fridge for 5-6 days (in an airtight container). I always reccomend adding toppings on before consuming.
To make and meal-prep a few batches of these oats, you can multiply the ingredients by how many you want to make (so if you want 3 servings, multiply by 3). I usually make them in these individual overnight oat jars, but you can also just mix them up in a bowl or tupperware container and scoop out the individual servings as the week goes on.
