Peanut butter and jelly isn't just for sandwiches anymore! If you're craving something cozy, nostalgic, and super easy to make, throw these Peanut Butter and Jelly Overnight Oats into your breakfast rotation immediately. Creamy, nutty oats layered with sweet jam bring all the comforting flavors of the classic combo-only this time, it's in a nourishing, no-cook meal that's ready to grab and go, even on your busiest mornings!

Peanut butter and jelly is one of those flavor combos that no matter how old you get, it always tastes great. It reminds me of my childhood, eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch before spending the day running around outside. Life was simpler then! These PB&J overnight oats are a tribute to those days, making your breakfast more simple but just as delicious.
Perfect for busy mornings, meal prep, your kids lunches, or even a late-night snack, this recipe is as simple as it is satisfying. Plus, it's endlessly customizable-use your favorite nut butter, swap in fresh berries instead of jam, or add crunchy toppings (like salted peanuts) to take it to the next level. Whether you're reliving childhood lunches or just love the PB&J flavor combo like I do, this overnight oats version delivers all the goodness with none of the fuss.
As a breakfast recipe creator, I am constantly trying to come up with flavor ideas and combos that are delicious yet easy to whip up when you don't have the mental energy to make yourself a whole meal, which is me most mornings. I love recipes like these Berry Cheesecake Overnight Oats, or these Chocolate Banana Overnight Oats. If you want something you can bake and reheat, try my Nutella Baked Oatmeal.
ingredients you need

- oats- I used old fashioned or rolled oats (they are the same thing). I find these best for overnight oats because they have the best texture after soaking up the milk & yogurt overnight.
- chia seeds
- milk- any milk works for this recipe!
- non-fat greek yogurt- I use non-fat plain greek yogurt most of the time, but a berry flavored yogurt would go great with this recipe.
- maple syrup- feel free to swap this for another sweetener you prefer, or omit entirely.
- peanut butter- I used natural creamy peanut butter in my testing, but really any peanut butter or nut butter would be fabulous in this recipe
- jam or jelly- whichever flavor you love!
Swaps for Peanut Butter & Jelly
Feel free to make these oats your favorite flavor combos! Swap the peanut butter for almond butter, cashew butter, granola butter, sunflower seed butter, tahini, or even a hazelnut spread like Nutella!
Not feeling store-bought jelly or jam? You could swap for fresh or frozen berries, apple butter, fig or date spread, banana slices, or make your own fruit compote at home.
How to make

As all of my overnight oat recipes are, this recipe could not be easier to make. I can prep a batch of these in no time at all.
- start by mixing the oats and chia seeds together in a bowl or container. I always use my overnight oat glass jars for this!
- mix in the milk, yogurt, maple syrup, and peanut butter until smooth and evenly mixed.
- I like to add my dollop of jam right on top and let it sit like that in the fridge overnight, mixing it up right before I eat!
Enjoy the next morning by topping with more peanut butter or your favorite toppings (see some ideas below).
Toppings to add
I love to add all different types of toppings to my overnight oats, especially if I make a few to eat throughout the week but want to change things up so it doesn't taste redundant. A few things I love to add to these:
- chopped peanuts or other nuts
- granola, cereal, or crushed pretzels
- toasted coconut flakes
- cacoa nibs or chocolate chips
- fresh berries or sliced banana
- dried fruits
- cinnamon or flaky sea salt

Storage and Meal Prepping
Overnight oats stay fresh in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days- which makes overnight oats one of my favorite recipes to make ahead to save time! They actually get creamier the longer they sit in the fridge. I always recommend adding any additional topping right before consuming so they don't get soggy.
To meal prep, just line up a few extra jars while making this recipe. It only adds a few extra minutes of prep time to prep 3-5 servings.
If your oats seem to be dry when you take them out of the fridge, add a splash of milk in and mix until creamy. You can eat overnight oats cold right out of the fridge, or heat them up in the microwave.
