Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make nutella overnight oats.

Here are some notes on a few ingredients- please see the full ingredient list in the recipe card below!

  • Oats: I recommend using old fashioned oats or rolled oats, but quick oats can be used in a pinch.
  • Greek Yogurt: I like using plain or vanilla non-fat Greek yogurt.
  • Maple Syrup: you can easily swap this out for honey. This is used to sweeten the nutella overnight oats, so feel free to leave it out if you find it sweet enough for you.
  • Chia Seeds: chia seeds will help thicken up the overnight oats.

Step-by-Step Instructions

How to make nutella overnight oats. 1. Add all the ingredients into the glass jar. 2. Combine all the ingredients with a fork and let sit in the glass jar in the fridge overnight.

Step 1: Mix the oats, chia seeds, yogurt, milk and maple syrup together in a bowl or jar.

Step 2: In a microwave-safe dish, microwave the Nutella spread until runny. This should take 10-20 seconds.

Step 3: Pour the Nutella into the oats mixture and stir until well combined. You could also skip the microwaving and put the nutella in as is (just close with a lid and shake vigorously).

Step 4: Cover with a lid and place in the fridge for at least 5 hours, or overnight.

Step 5: In the morning, give the overnight oats mixture a good stir, top with more Nutella and fresh berries and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • Melting the Nutella – if you don’t want to melt the Nutella, just add it to the jar with the oats mixture, place the lid on and shake the jar vigorously.
  • More Protein – feel free to add protein powder to the overnight oats, I recommend using a chocolate protein powder!
  • More Nutella – add between 1-2 tablespoons of Nutella, depending on how indulgent you want it!
  • Oats – I recommend using old fashioned rolled oats for this recipe! You can use quick oats if that’s all you have on hand, but the texture will be different.
  • I like to eat my Nutella overnight oats straight from the fridge, but you can also warm it up in the microwave!
