These strawberry-glazed donuts are baked vanilla donuts topped with a homemade strawberry glaze! These soft and fluffy strawberry donuts are the perfect weekend treat and are super simple to make.
After making my funfetti donuts I knew I had to make a fruity strawberry version! Just like my funfetti donuts, these strawberry frosted donuts are soft and almost cake-like, but they’re then dipped in a dreamy strawberry glaze.
The strawberry glaze is naturally pink thanks to using fresh strawberries! I love adding red and white sprinkles to get all the Valentine’s Day vibes!

Why You Should Make Strawberry Glazed Donuts
- These baked donuts aren’t overly sweet and the fresh strawberry glaze has the perfect amount of sweetness.
- These vanilla donuts are so soft and fluffy, they’re almost like a cake or a muffin but in donut form!
- You only need 3 simple ingredients to make the strawberry frosting and 8 ingredients to make the donuts.
- It takes just 30 minutes to make this easy baked donut recipe!
Recipe Ingredients
Here are some notes on a few ingredients- please see the full ingredient list in the recipe card below!
- Strawberries: you’ll need strawberries to make the strawberry glaze! I only tested this glaze with fresh strawberries.
- Milk: I tested this recipe with buttermilk but feel free to use whichever milk you like!
- Unsalted Butter: I always use unsalted butter in my recipes, that way I can control the amount of salt in the recipe!
- Powdered Sugar: or confectioners sugar. You can sift before using but it's not necessary! It will help to make sure your glaze isn't lumpy.
- Flour: I’ve only tested this recipe with all-purpose flour!

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°Fahrenheit. Spray a donut mold with nonstick spray.
Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together. Set aside.
Step 3: In a medium bowl, whisk the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract together until smooth. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until it is just combined.
Step 4: Scoop the donut batter into a piping bag or ziploc bag so you can easily pipe the batter into the donut pan. Fill the donut pan until each cavity is ½ full. If you’re using silicone molds, I recommend placing them on a baking sheet before you place them in the oven.
Step 5: Bake the donuts for 9-12 minutes or until set on top. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before removing them and letting them cool completely on a wire rack.
Step 6: In a blender or food processor, blend the strawberries until mostly smooth. Pour into a bowl.
Step 7: Add 1 cup of powdered sugar and mix until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add up to ½ tablespoon of milk. If it’s too thin, you can add more powdered sugar.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! You can add sprinkles to the donut batter as I did with my funfetti donuts or glaze the donuts and then add sprinkles to the tips of the donuts!
Because these donuts are baked instead of fried, they are slightly better for you! Like any sweet treat, just eat them in moderation!
You can use silicone donut pans, but I prefer using this donut pan.
Baked donuts are definitely a bit different than the traditional donuts you get from a donut shop. While those are typically fried, baked donuts are made in the oven, giving you more of a cake-like texture.

Tips and Tricks
- To make homemade buttermilk, pour ½ tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice into a liquid measuring cup. Fill the measuring cup to the ½-cup mark with milk. Allow the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes. This allows the mixture to curdle like buttermilk.
- Feel free to use either a silicone donut mold or a steel donut pan! I personally prefer using a steel one but both work here. Make sure to spray them with non-stick spray so the donuts come out easily.
- Make sure not to overfill the donut pan! If you fill it up more than ½ way full it might overflow while baking.
- Be careful when measuring out your flour, if you add too much flour your donuts will end up dry! I like using a kitchen scale when measuring to make sure it's the correct amount.
- Only dip the donuts in glaze once they’re completely cool, otherwise, the strawberry glaze might melt right off.
Storing & Freezing
Store these strawberry glazed donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can freeze these strawberry donuts for up to 1 month!

- Use a scale to measure your flour properly.
- Make sure not to overfill the donut pan! If you fill it up more than ½ way full it might overflow while baking.
