This homemade Maple Bacon is about to up your breakfast game! Made with just 3 simple ingredients and baked in the oven, candied maple bacon is a serious game changer. It's made with thick cut bacon, giving you tons of flavor. I love serving it with a stack of pancakes or waffles for a lil salty sweet vibe, or it's amazing with eggs! Most of the work is done in the oven, so you can sit back and relax with a cup of coffee while the oven works its magic.

With a name like Bake & Bacon, I think it's pretty clear how I feel about bacon... if you're not picking up what I'm putting down, I love it. What is better than regular ol' bacon? Flavored bacon, of course! Adding brown sugar and maple syrup to bacon- Sign me right up! This is such a treat and I love to whip this easy recipe up for guests or whenever I'm craving something salty and sweet!
This maple bacon is so easy to make and takes no time to prep at all. Once the bacon is brushed with maple syrup and brown sugar, the oven does all the hard work! I love cooking a batch while I dish up some cheesy scrambled eggs - the ultimate breakfast combo!
If you've got any maple bacon left over, you've got to use it to make my maple bacon donuts (and invite me over please!). If you love bacon as much as I do, be sure to make my bacon and cheese turnovers, or these bacon cheddar chive scones!
ingredients you need

- Thick Cut Bacon: thick cut bacon has more flavor than regular bacon, so if you've got it at your local grocery store I definitely recommend buying it!
- Maple Syrup: Try to use real maple syrup and not pancake syrup if you can. It'll make all the difference in flavor.
- Brown Sugar: Just a lil sprinkle of brown sugar is going to give us that candied bacon we're going for here.
Can I use regular bacon instead of thick cut?
If your grocery store only has regular bacon, or you just prefer regular bacon, then you can definitely use it! It'll have less cooking time so I recommend keeping an eye on it in the oven. I personally love using medium to thick cut bacon, but you do you.
How to make

Step 1: Prep your pan with aluminum foil and a metal rack.
Step 2: lay the bacon across the rack and brush it with maple syrup.
Step 3: Sprinkle over brown sugar, and bake until done to your liking.
My tips for making bacon in the oven-
- Different ovens have different hot spots, so make sure to keep an eye on the bacon so it doesn't burn. We're looking for crispy, not burned to a crisp! I always recommend using an oven thermometer, especially since everyones ovens run different temps!
- Lining your baking sheet with foil is going to make your life so much easier, so don't skip this step! Less clean up = a happier you (and more time on your hands to enjoy your breakfast/brunch).
- Spray your cooking rack with non-stick spray so the bacon doesn't stick. If you don't have a rack, then you can cook the bacon straight on the foil lined baking sheet.
- Reminder- don't put your bacon grease down the drain! I like to let the pan cool & the grease solidify before throwing it out.

Storage and Reheating
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. If I have the time, I like to reheat mine in the oven or toaster oven to get it crispy again! The microwave works as well.
You can freeze your candied bacon in a freezer-safe, airtight container for up to 2 months. I would layer the bacon between parchment paper so it's easy to remove when defrosting.
