These Chocolate Dipped Rice Krispie Treats are a twist on the classic! Easy to make and perfect for holidays and get togethers, these treats are the best dessert!
Line a 9×13-inch pan (or 9×9-inch pan for thick rice krispie treats) with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once fully melted, add the marshmallows (reserving 1 cup for later) and stir until completely melted.
Remove from heat and add the vanilla and salt. Stir until well combined.
Gently mix in the cereal and the extra 1 cup of marshmallows using a rubber spatula. Quickly spread the mixture into the prepared pan and press gently with the spatula to flatten into an even layer.
Cool in pan for at least 30 minutes before cutting into bars.
Melt the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe dish in 30 second increments, stirring well in between each time. Melt only until there are no clumps of chocolate left.
Dip one side of the rice krispie treats in the chocolate, shaking off any excess chocolate, and place on parchment paper to dry.
Notes
When using the greased spatula to press down the treats, don’t press too hard. That will make your rice krispie treats more dense!
This recipe makes 24 bars, but you can cut them into smaller bars if you prefer.
Don’t forget to stir the chocolate after every 30 second increment or it might burn.
Use different chocolates and add things like sprinkles, chocolate chips, chopped nuts, and drizzled chocolate or peanut butter. Make sure to add sprinkles to the chocolate before it dries.
