Ingredients

  • 16 oz breakfast sausage
  • 12 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can premade biscuits 16 oz can
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • green onions for topping optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉ and grease a 9x13 casserole dish. Set aside.
  • Brown sausage in a pan according to package directions. Once cooked through, remove sausage from the pan to a paper-towel lined plate. Set aside.
    16 oz breakfast sausage
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Add in cheese and cooked and cooled sausage.
12 large eggs, ½ cup milk, 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp pepper, 1½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Remove biscuits from the can and evenly place on top of the egg mixture. Brush the melted butter on top of the biscuits (optional).
1 can premade biscuits, 2 tbsp butter
  • Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the egg bake is cooked through in the middle. Cover the casserole with foil if the biscuits begin to brown too much (I check around the 30 minute mark). Allow to cool for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Let the casserole cool to room temperature, then store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Reheat individual servings in the microwave or oven.
  • To freeze, place slices in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Let thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
  • to make ahead: follow recipe directions up until adding the biscuits. Before you add them, stop and cover the baking dish with foil, and place it in the fridge. Whenever you're ready to bake it, add the biscuits.
